Did you know, the FBI reports every 26 seconds there is a home invasion or burglary? When you do the math it results in about 3,500 burglaries or home invasions every day.
According to the same FBI report, these next few tricks will help eliminate the possibility of a burglary or home invasion for your home.
1. The American Flag
I bet you didn’t know that burglars are less likely to attack a home that displays the American flag outside daily? It sounds wild, but it’s true. Burglars associate the stars and stripes with patriotism, and assume the homeowner is locked and loaded. Interesting, huh?
2. Open Invitations
If you’ve developed the habit of leaving your garage door open, either when you’re home or not, you’re inviting these burglarizing pests into your sanctuary. Often times, burglars case neighborhoods simply to monitor who has this terrible habit. Not to mention, they’ll often settle for the goodies in your garage; your power tools, unlocked car, bikes, etc.
3. Then There Was Light!
Dark homes are prime targets. It’s always best to have at least a few lights on in your home, especially when you’re out on vacation. Having a smart home alarm system where you can remotely turn on a few lights when you know you’ll be home late, is a key ingredient in thwarting potential burglary suspects.
4. I See You…
Home invasions are traumatic and often happen at random times throughout the day. In many instances, invaders pretend to be door-to-door salesmen or an innocent person needing help. Give yourself an extra layer of protection by installing a doorbell camera. Having the power to confront the suspect at your door and letting them know that you see their face is enough to make these cowards scram!
4. Sound the Alarm!
In-home security systems and hiring a patrol company are well-worth the investment. From intrusion sensors, motion sensors, sirens, and cameras we can design the perfect security system to cover every view of your home. Couple that with proactive patrol and immediate response from officers in your neighborhood and burglars will see your “Gates Security” yard sign and look the other way.
